Woman Dies After Great White Shark Attack in the Red Sea
Victim Identified as 25-Year-Old Jordan Lindsey of Torrance, California
June 27, 2019 (6:06 AM PDT) - An American woman has died after being attacked by a shark while snorkeling in the Red Sea.
Jordan Lindsey, 25, of Torrance, California, was swimming with her mother, Kami Lindsey, on June 26 in waters around Rose Island, Jordan. According to witnesses, Lindsey was attacked by a great white shark and suffered severe injuries to her leg and abdomen.
Lindsey was rushed to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Her mother was not injured in the attack.
The Jordan Maritime Commission has issued a warning to beachgoers and swimmers to be cautious of sharks in the area.
Lindsey's death is the third fatal shark attack in Jordan in the past two years. In 2018, two Egyptian tourists were killed by sharks in the Red Sea.
