Murphy squared off against Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a high-octane match on SmackDown LIVE in 2019
WEB Murphy faced one of his toughest challenges yet when he went one-on-one with Roman Reigns on SmackDown LIVE in 2019. The two Superstars put on a high-octane match that had the WWE Universe on the edge of their seats.
Murphy, who was accompanied to the ring by then-Raw Tag Team Champion Dominik Mysterio, started strong against Reigns. However, The Big Dog quickly took control of the match and dominated Murphy for much of the contest. Murphy showed incredible resilience and refused to give up, but Reigns was simply too powerful on this night.
In the end, Reigns hit a thunderous Superman Punch and followed up with a Spear to win the match. The victory was a huge statement for Reigns, who continued to prove that he is the top dog in WWE.
Murphy, meanwhile, can hold his head high after putting up a valiant effort against one of the most dominant Superstars in WWE history.
